Building Solidarity Among Transracial & Intercountry Adoptees

Building Solidarity Among Transracial & Intercountry Adoptees

Alex Sloan, Joplin Finfrock, Daniel Kress Portland, Oregon, USA

The discourse about intercountry and transracial adoption is often dominated by adoptive parents and outside observers. In this panel discussion, 3 transracial/intercountry adoptees come together to share their unique experiences, including the challenges of being separated from their birth nations and cultures, wrestling with their American privilege, and navigating racialized experiences with white parents.

Panelists will discuss the difference between transracial and intercountry adoption, and share their varying experiences and perspectives of adoption. All are welcome to attend in solidarity, and the session will center the voices and experiences of transracial & intercountry adoptees.
