Who is this for?

Cultivating Cultures of Care is open to any individual who wants to develop the skills and tools to be an agent of change in their workplace, community group or organization.

The practices are adaptable to individual circumstances whether you are a director, a frontline worker, a mutual aid organizer or community volunteer!

How can that be true?

A director absolutely has more formal power & authority to influence shifts in organizational culture than most frontline workers. And, every one of us can be a force of change by changing how we show up in the spaces we navigate.

Can you help me figure out how to fix the problematic people I work with?

No. We can’t “fix” people. And neither can you! We also can’t promise any secret tricks for making your colleagues change their behavior or beliefs overnight.

We do have are proven skills and tools to help you:

  • Assess your relative power, influence and safety within your organizational ecosystem,

  • Analyze realistic options you can leverage towards culture change,

  • Develop & implement action plans for being & leading the change you want to see, regardless of how much formal power you have in the hierarchy.

(And we can help you do even more if you are the director!)

Why are you focusing Specifically on Racial Harm?

We live in a culture of racialized trauma - no one is immune or exempt from the impacts of generations of racialized violence, legal discrimination, structural exclusion and economic exploitation.

No matter how woke or well meaning your team is, you will have to address racialized harm at some point - it is a unavoidable in our current social reality.

Unaddressed and poorly managed responses to incidents of racialized harm are not only harmful to the impacted individuals, they are also detrimental to team cohesion & effectiveness, and often cause dynamic community movements to implode.

Your work team or community group cannot truly be a force for positive social change in the world if you can’t work effectively work through a repair process after an experience of racialized harm.

When you have developed the skills & practices necessary to work through a racial harm repair process effectively, you will likely find that you have the skills & tools you need to work through almost any other kind of conflict that might arise!

Theresa Logan

Theresa is the founder of Subduction Consulting and Co-Founder of the Strategy & Solidarity Collective, a certified Community Resilience Model trainer and an assistant teacher at the Last Mask Center.

I was raised in the liberation theology/social justice side of the Catholic church but never felt much connection to spirit there. I felt most connected to the divine spirit of creation while camping near freshwater lakes or marveling at the vastness of the ocean.

I find great joy in dancing and singing the songs of the Orisha - who I came to know through marrying into an Afro-Cuban family. I have also been working to reclaim the blessings and gifts of my pre-colonial Irish ancestors through a working relationship with The Morrigan. I have recently completed the Cycle of Transformation with Christina Lee Pratt and the Cycle Community - an 8 year process of energy body clearing, shadow transformation and ancestral healing. I learn so much each day from plants and animals and the natural elements who are so generous in sharing their wisdom with me when I am willing to be quiet long enough to listen and receive.

I suppose I could be labeled an animist polytheist, but mostly I just strive to be a thread of true love weaving my way through the world in right relationship with the dream of all life on earth. That is what compels me to work to create a just and thriving future for all.

In addition to raising 3 remarkable teenagers and learning to better tend relationships with the land and people where I currently live, I primarily use my skills and energy to facilitate conflict transformation processes, offer skill-building workshops, and support organizations in mitigating & repairing racial harm, and leveraging their resources to advance racial justice.

Carlos Kareem Windham & Theresa Logan co-founded the Strategy & Solidarity Collective in 2024 to bring together their global networks of racial justice practitioners, artists, activists, healers and community leaders.

As a virtual global community center, the Strategy & Solidarity community app provides opportunities for our members to build community, skills, peer support networks, and effective strategy for manifesting our shared vision of a just and thriving future for all.
