Boundaries Through Collapse: An embodied community ritual

Saturday, October 10
12 - 2pm Pacific

Virtual & Asynchronous

Join Strategy & Solidarity Collective for an embodied community ritual to upgrade our boundaries, strengthen our ability to strategically navigate the challenges of our time, and continue to dream a just and thriving future into being.

Guided by Strategy & Solidarity co-founders Theresa Logan and Carlos Kareem Windham, we will:

  • Call on our healed ancestors, the Earth and the natural elements to hold our ritual container.

  • Access our own embodied & inner wisdom through meditation/visualization, movement/dance, and artistic expression.

  • Transform our relationship with, understanding of, and capacity to set & hold boundaries.

  • Use energetic tools to clear blocks, claim our power, release old attachments, clarify our intentions, and weave new energetic boundaries.

Any ritual is only as powerful as your intention, preparation and investment in the ritual itself, AND in the new choices you make on the other side.

We’ll help you prepare and we’ll support one another in following through with our new intentions, with discussions, practice exercises and peer support in the Strategy & Solidarity online community throughout the month of October.

Carlos is the founder of El Porvenir Services, Co-Founder of the Strategy & Solidarity Collective.

Carlos’ revolutionary spirit has guided them through community centers, universities, music halls, board rooms, and government agencies around the world as a teacher, organizer and performer.

Carlos has been an active Luccumi priest for the past 23 years, and is also a practicing spiritual medium and psychic reader. They bring their diverse talents and expertise together to support individuals, communities and organizations in developing strong community rhizomes of collaboration, expression and justice.

Carlos’ has spent the past 12 years using their hard-won wisdom, gained over a lifetime of activism and organizing, to guide non-profits, community groups, and public agencies to create more racially just outcomes. You can also find Carlos bringing down the house at comedy clubs from Portland, Oregon to Limassol, Cyprus with their irreverent, unapologetic, and highly memorable stand-up.

Art is the foundation of my social justice practice and the driving force behind most of my professional and community efforts. I have been blessed to meet thousands of people across the globe as an emcee, comedian, community organizer, and spiritualist. Each of them has taught me so much about the world and myself. Above all, I’ve learned that we have much more in common than there is that divides us. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been extended and have the opportunity to provide.

Theresa is the founder of Subduction Consulting and Co-Founder of the Strategy & Solidarity Collective, and an assistant teacher at Last Mask Center.

I suppose I could be labeled an animist polytheist, though mostly I just strive to be a thread of true love weaving my way through the world in right relationship with the dream of all life on earth. That is what compels me to work to create a just and thriving future for all.

I was raised in the liberation theology/social justice side of the Catholic church but never felt much connection to spirit there. I felt most connected to the divine spirit of creation while camping near freshwater lakes or marveling at the vastness of the ocean.

I find great joy in dancing and singing the songs of the Orisha - who I came to know through marrying into an Afro-Cuban family. I have also been working to reclaim the blessings and gifts of my pre-colonial Irish ancestors through relationship with The Morrigan. I have recently completed the Cycle of Transformation with Christina Lee Pratt and the Cycle Community - a 7 year process of personal transformation including energy body clearing, shadow transformation, and ancestral healing.

In addition to raising 3 remarkable teenagers and learning to better tend relationships with the land and people where I currently live, I primarily use my skills and energy to facilitate conflict transformation processes, offer skill-building workshops, and support organizations in repairing racialized harm, creating cultures of care, and mitigating disparities in the outcomes of their policies and practices.

FAQ

Why are we offering this now?

We created this ritual to help you radically transform your ability to hold boundaries in a time when the rules no longer apply (if they ever did). The stories we were told about success, satisfaction and safety are being revealed as manipulative lies that only ever served a select few. The comfort and rewards we were promised we would earn “playing by the rules”, following social norms, and complying with others’ expectations, are nowhere to be found. We have shrunk, contorted and hidden the most powerful, joyful, brilliant parts of ourselves to try to be good cogs in the violent machinery of capitalism. Our social & physical infrastructure has been weakened to the brink of collapse, and no one is coming to save us.

Following “the rules” will not lead us to a just & thriving future for all. We need strong, healthy boundaries to help us navigate the chaos, danger and uncertainty of this time with as much integrity, strategy and solidarity as possible. We need strong, healthy boundaries to co-create a just and thriving future for all.

What is an embodied community ritual?

It is an opportunity to tap into your own spirit, embodied wisdom, and creativity to create radical transformation in your life. Instead of a mental exercise in thinking and talking about boundaries, we will tap into all of our wisdom centers (head, heart, gut and spirit) to gain a deeper energetic and embodied understanding of where, how and why we’ve struggled to hold boundaries. We’ll call in the support of healed ancestors and the natural elements to help us weave new intelligent, flexible, energetic boundaries, and identify the next steps we need to take to bring them online in our daily lives.

For the folks who need literal logistic details, it will look like signing on to a zoom meeting, moving with music (on or off screen), engaging in a guided meditation/visualization, and doing a little drawing or crafting.

Who is this for?

This offering is for anyone who struggles with setting and holding boundaries, and anyone who wants to strengthen & upgrade their boundaries in a community dedicated to racial & social justice (no bypassing, toxic positivity or wellness to white supremacy pipeline here).

Any and all spiritual and faith traditions are welcome, as are those who don’t currently have a spiritual or religious practice. You don’t even have to believe in any kind of “spirit” to find value in the community & energetic aspects of the ritual.

You do have to believe that Black Lives matter and support Trans lives & rights to join Strategy & Solidarity. We are an explicitly pro-Black, Trans loving, immigrant defending community.

Is it accessible?

The live ritual will be hosted virtually in Zoom with auto-generated captions enabled. We will provide verbal descriptions of visual materials, and will offer modifications for folks with limited mobility. We will do our best to accommodate other accessibility requests received with at least 72 hours advance notice.

Can I join asynchronously?

Yes! AND you will get the most out of it if you participate live. We encourage you to make every effort to join us live! If you cannot make it live for the whole session, we will share the recording so you can participate asynchronously. We do ask live participants to plan to arrive early and stay for the entire ritual.

What do I need to do prepare to participate in the ritual?

You are welcome to show up as you are with no preparation, however, you’ll likely have a more meaningful experience if you invest in a little bit of time and energy ahead of time to:

  • clear/prepare a space where you can move/dance safely

  • gather any drawing or crafting supplies you have on hand

  • energetically cleanse yourself and your space.

What happens after the ritual?

Join the Strategy & Solidarity community throughout the month of October for daily discussion prompts and exercises to put our new boundaries into practice where they matter most.

Is there a fee to participate?

There is no required fee to register.

We do ask that participants with the means to consider making a meaningful monetary contribution as energy exchange.

If you cannot afford to make any monetary contribution at this time, you are still very welcome to attend!

What is energy exchange?

Everything is energy. Money is the primary method we use to transfer energy in our society. Investing some of your energy in this process through a financial contribution not only helps to support Strategy & Solidarity's financial sustainability, but also energetically charges the work you will do in this space - your offering energetically demonstrates you investment in co-creating the process, not just observing or extracting something from it.

In a culture of extraction, entitlement and oppression, energy exchange invites us to reconsider how energy moves through what we offer and what we receive. It is a framework in which we endeavor to come into right relationship with one another, our labor, and our value, beyond market rates, transactional relationships, violent hierarchies, capitalism and scarcity.

You can also offer non-monetary energy exchange by sharing this opportunity with your networks and actively encouraging others to attend!

Strategy & Solidarity is 100% member funded and free of ads, ops, bots, AI slop, and corporate sponsorships.
