Global Access Point: South East Salon

Global Access Point:
South East Salon

Jason WH Page, South East Salon
London, England, UK

Founder Jason Whittington Page, will share how the South East Salon’s focus on shared histories, creative economies, and grassroots organizing is being leveraged to build meaningful resistance to fascism—locally and globally.

Session Description

How do we empower ourselves locally and stay connected globally?

Become a global access point in your community.

South East London mirrors other working-class, post-industrial communities around the world - residents feel the urgent need to stay grounded in community, despite the isolating pull of digital life. The South East Salon—part community hub, part think tank—is both a local and global access point, connecting people in South East London with allies and innovators across borders.

Through sharing best practices and collective memory, Salon attendees exchange methods of organizing, storytelling, and creative resistance that are already working in their respective communities. The sessions highlight the importance of reclaiming space—physical, cultural, and political—as a core strategy in resisting fascist ideologies and building joyful solidarity.

The Salon’s discussions generate both strategic insights, and a reaffirmation of why gatherings like this matter. The Salon draws inspiration from historical models of collective brilliance—from Black intellectual salons in the U.S. to 18th-century Parisian gatherings—reminding us that action begins with assembly. Joy reigns as fuel for resistance: song circles, dance, craft, and storytelling were seen as acts of cultural preservation and defiance. The Salon isn’t just about meetings—it’s about convoking. The calling to action is what binds us, especially when issued by people we know and trust.

In this session, founder Jason Whittington Page, will share how the South East Salon’s focus on shared histories, creative economies, and grassroots organizing is being leveraged to build meaningful resistance. Session participants will join in exploring the role of strategy and solidarity in the fight against fascism—locally and globally.
