Designed specifically for US BIPOC community members, this session will increase your understanding of local and state governance structures, and effective strategies you can use to create sustainable change at the local and state levels.
Session Description
This interactive training session is designed to empower the BIPOC community with accessible strategies for taking more ownership of our local communities and creating sustainable change at the local and state levels.
The first half of this session focuses on City Hall. We’ll learn how local and state governing bodies operate, and which stakeholders exert the greatest influence over them. The second half will explore the role of community service providers and community resources in helping to shape and build healthy communities. We will talk about the power of Peer Support and how building genuine, supportive relationships helps individuals and communities thrive. We’ll also explore how to strategize, organize and leverage free & underutilized community resources.
Presenter Bio
As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, Divinity Warmsley is a role model of recovery - she became the change she wanted to see in her community. With more than 20 years of experience in non-profit mental and behavioral health, Divinity’s career has been dedicated to understanding trauma, supporting personal and collective transformation, and creating new possibilities for her community.
An enthusiastic Professional Life Artist and Wellness and Recovery Facilitator, Divinity has supported youth and adults experiencing mental and emotional challenges with intentional solution-focused support to assist individuals in stabilizing their lives and moving toward healing.
In her consulting practice, Divinity now supports organizations and individuals in building peer support networks, and strengthening their community outreach and engagement efforts. She provides executive coaching, staff training, team-building, community outreach & community engagement events, and community needs assessments.
